Diploma of Management proving a popular choice

Friday, May 29th, 2009

The nationally recognised Diploma of  Management BSB51107 looks like becoming the most sought after qualification offered by Aboard Training Australia.  A small marketing exercise in the South- East corner of Queensland has produced a solid response from candidates wishing to formalise their skills and experience into the qualification. Also, the usual word of mouth is driving an upsurge in recognition of prior learning for this valued skill set, and experienced managers are making use of Aboard’s “we come to you” approach. Aboard Training Australia’s Business Services manager says “we always had great word of mouth referrals, and it is exciting to see the growing results from the recent marketing in regional newspapers. Of course, the website plays a support role in that interested parties can get a good understanding of our recognition service. For now , we are sticking with the ‘fast to download’ website idea; we figure that speedy download of the necessary information is a good feature of the simple yet effective website.” Darleen, director of administration says- ‘the phone services we provide in NSW, Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia as well as Far North Queensland and Gulf of Carpentaria services also reduces costs for customers enquiring about the Diploma and the process. It’s a big vast country and we appreciate the difficulties that customers in remote areas face. Any little thing we can do to help support our customers adds up.”

Cherie certainly demonstrates this mix, and Aboard is delighted to be associated with Cherie in providing recognition of experience for the Diploma of Management.”

Small Vessel Operators Certificate transitions to Coxswain (restricted fishing)

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

On August 1st 2008 the long standing Small Vessel Operators Certificate (SVOC) Course underwent a transition to include nationally recognised maritime units, that contribute towards the 2007 Maritime coxswain requirements. Aboard Training Australia will continue to deliver training for the new version of the SVOC, to be called the Coxswain (restricted fishing). The new course requirements have added a degree of difficulty and extra time at training, and a cost rise to compensate. Aboard is lobbying for a reduction in the requirements and or new units suitable for smaller vessels. For existing operators and especially Aboard Training Australia customers, there is very little that is required by the transition, just make sure you contact Maritime Safety Queensland to swap over. Aboard Training is also a recognised Commercial Marine Training Organisation Authority Holder ( No. 715/14414) issued by Maritime Safety Queensland and this meets the new criteria for training provision. Upon completion of the Aboard training program for the new Coxswain (restricted fishing), the issuing of the new licenses for customers enrolled after 31 July 2008 will be done by Maritime Safety Queensland.  For those that have e licenses issued by Seafood Training Queensland, an exchange period will be granted by MSQ for easy changeover (get in now, before any change in policy). For those that are tardy with the exchange period, a fee may be applied at a later changeover time by MSQ.  Aboard Training can also provide you with training and assessment for Master 5/Skipper 3, MED 2/3 if you need to manage bigger vessels in fishing or maritime industries. Your Coxswain Restricted Fishing training here at Aboard can contribute to  these higher license requirements.    So, guys and girls, ring Aboard Training Australia 07 3408 2312 for full and ACCURATE  information, we have the fact sheets here direct from Maritime Safety Queensland (Policy department)  that we can fax you, to ensure that misleading RUMORS do not cause you any unnecessary stress.                                     Cheers, Frank Lee. Obtaining facts for commercial fishing license requirements can be a hassle

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

Many people seeking the Queensland commercial fishers license find that information they receive from Queensland Maritime offices and Queensland Fisheries and Boating Patrol offices confusing and sometimes contradictory. When they eventually reach the Aboard Training Australia office by phone, the frustration levels are rising. Aboard Training has a policy of giving out accurate and timely information to new and returning master fishers, regardless of whether we get their custom or not. Aboard Training Australia is not the cheapest provider, but we take pride in giving the best possible support to the many commercial fisher trainees and returning commercial fishermen scattered throughout Queensland and other Australian States

The Master Fishers license training program is offered by correspondence through Aboard Training Australia. Aboard Training has structured the Master Fishers course to ensure that no one is disadvantaged by distance. The Master Fishers license is a prerequisite to taking fish for sale in Queensland. Queensland is unique in that it is the only state to require fundamental understanding of environmental issues prior to licensing. Aspiring master fishers also obtain training in endangered and threatened species, food safety and quality handling of seafood, basic business understanding and legistation and regulations
